Parenting: Another perspective

Wouldn't it be great if children were engaged in the lessons of life as their parents live it? I mean after a certain age, once a child can understand basic issues and consequences, instead of the daily bedtime stories or a simple good night, a parent tells the child about what transpired in their day and the lessons of life to take from it.

There are two main benefits to this perspective: for one, it will imprint in the mind of the child, the lessons of life on a regular basis and secondly it could be beneficial to the adult as well as this invokes a daily reflection of his or her activities and brings an invaluable awareness of self.

Take an example where you have come off a key meeting and it just occurred to you what you could have done differently to ensure success next time and you recounted that to your child and said something like "...this goes to show that you must know your end goal before you get to any interaction..."

I wonder how close your kids can feel to you as you let them walk in your shoes but wearing "wiser" socks?
